Pogranicze polsko-wschodniosłowiańskie. Studia wyrazowe. Część 3

Abstract

Publikacja jest kontynuacją rozważań zawartych w pracach „Pogranicze polsko-wschodniosłowianskie. Studia wyrazowe” (2018) oraz „Pogranicze polsko-wschodniosłowianskie. Studia wyrazowe. Część 2” (2021). Autorzy szczególną uwagę zwracają na rozróżnienie rzeczywistych pożyczek od reliktów dawnej wspólnoty słowiańskiej. Wskazują także na konieczność zestawiania materiału polskiego i innojęzycznego (np. polskiego i ukraińskiego, polskiego i białoruskiego), by właściwie uchwycić mechanizmy przenikania elementów poszczególnych systemów, a przy tym zaobserwować infiltrację pierwiastków kulturowych składających się na całość obrazu pogranicza. W monografii omówiono kilkanaście wyrazów charakterystycznych dla tego obszaru. Są to: binduga, chaszcze, chudoba, chusta, druh, (h)uzer, kidać, kołosza, kurdupel, łukno, makutra, miękiny, nawleczka, niewiasta, prymak, tołkanica, żmykać. Zanalizowano je na tle kontekstów literackich i kulturowych.

This publication continues reflections presented in the volumes "Pogranicze polsko-wschodniosłowianskie. Studia wyrazowe" [The Polish-East Slavic Borderland: Word Studies] (2018) and "Pogranicze polsko-wschodniosłowianskie. Studia wyrazowe. Część 2" [The Polish-East Slavic Borderland: Word Studies: Part 2] (2021). The authors pay particular attention to distinguishing actual borrowings from relics of the former Slavic community. They also accentuate the need to compare Polish and non-Polish material (e.g. Polish and Ukrainian, Polish and Belarusian) in order to capture properly the mechanisms of interpenetration of elements of particular systems and at the same time observe the infiltration of cultural elements which make up the overall image of the borderland. The volume offers a discussion of over a dozen words characteristic of this area: binduga ‘rafting ground’; chaszcze ‘thicket’; chudoba ‘livestock’; chusta ‘piece of linen or other fabric for clothing’; druh ‘companion; friend’; (h)uzer ‘lower part of a sheaf’; kidać ‘to throw’; kołosza ‘trouser leg’; kurdupel ‘short person’; łukno ‘vessel for honey; measure of honey’; makutra ‘clay bowl for grinding poppy seeds’; miękiny ‘chaff’; nawleczka ‘pillowcase, duvet cover; furniture cover’; niewiasta ‘daughter-in-law’; prymak ‘son-in-law accepted into his wife’s household’; tołkanica ‘mashed potatoes’; żmykać ‘to wash clothes by hand’. The lexical items in focus are analysed against the backdrop of literary and cultural contexts.
