Abstract

„Monografia otwiera interdyscyplinarny dyskurs o sposobie funkcjonowania pojęcia [duszy] w różnych kulturach świata oraz przemianach, jakim podlegało ono na przestrzeni wieków. […] Celem wszczęcia interdyscyplinarnej i międzynarodowej debaty nad fenomenem duszy było stworzenie wspólnej platformy badawczej, na której zaprezentowane zostaną stanowiska przedstawicieli różnych środowisk ze sfery nauk humanistycznych. […] W monografii znalazły się opracowania kilkudziesięcioro autorów, pochodzących z różnych ośrodków naukowych, zarówno polskich, jak i zagranicznych. […] Problematyka duchowości leży u podstaw humanistyki, stanowiąc punkt wyjścia badań nad niematerialnym wymiarem rzeczywistości, łączącym tradycję ze współczesnością. Refleksja nad istotą człowieczeństwa i jego egzystencji w wymiarze doczesnym oraz pytania o kontynuację istnienia po śmierci fizycznej towarzyszą ludzkości od zawsze, bez względu na czas i miejsce. Przekonanie o pośmiertnej formie bytu potwierdzają rytuały pogrzebowe odprawiane tak u ludów prymitywnych, jak i w rozwiniętych cywilizacjach, które kwestie conditio humana ujęły w systemy religijno-filozoficzne, znajdujące odbicie w literaturze, sztuce, naukach humanistycznych oraz w języku” (E. Tom pierwszy obejmuje zagadnienia oscylujące m.in. wokół dylematu cielesności i duchowości natury ludzkiej, konceptualizacji duszy w języku oraz egzystencjalnej problematyki duszy, zwłaszcza w odniesieniu do zjawiska śmierci.

“The monograph opens an interdisciplinary discourse about the notion [of the soul] and the changes it has undergone over the centuries. […] The aim of starting this interdisciplinary and international discussion on the phenomenon of the soul was to create a common research platform where to present the positions of representatives of different milieus within the humanities. […] The monograph features studies by dozens of authors from research centres both in Poland and abroad. […] The subject matter of the soul, spirit and spirituality is at the heart of the humanities, constituting a point of departure for research on the immaterial dimension of reality that connects the traditional and the present-day. Reflection about the essence of humanity and man’s existence in this world and questions about a continuation of this existence after physical death have accompanied mankind forever, no matter the time or place. The belief about a post-mortem form of being is attested in funerary rites conducted by both the primordial peoples and the advanced civilizations that have expressed the questions of the condition humana as religious and philosophical systems reflected in literature, the arts, the humanities, and language” (from the introduction by E. The first volume covers issues oscillating around, among others, the dilemma of the corporeality and spirituality of human nature, the conceptualization of the soul in language, and the existential problems of the soul, especially in relation to the phenomenon of death.
