W latach 2005–2025 ukazało się 19 tomów serii.The works published, since 2005, in the Kultura na Pograniczach [Borderland Cultures] series present results of newest research on the issues of collective identities forming in the conditions of intercultural contact. The problems of cultural borderlands, nationalisms, collective representations and ideas, and discourses are approached by the authors from historical (medieval to contemporary) and geo-cultural (Polish and Slavic cultures against a European background) perspectives. Abstract

Praca jest poświęcona zagadnieniu wielokulturowości i transgresji kulturowej. Zawiera definicje i omówienie zjawisk i terminów, kluczowych dla materii źródłowej, a następnie przedstawia w ujęciu mikrohistorycznym zjawiska dwukulturowości w formie trzech studiów wybranych postaci: Wojciecha Bobowskiego (Ali Ufkî Bej, XVII wiek), Salomei Reginy Pilsztynowej (XVIII wiek) i Konstantego Borzęckiego (Mustafa Dżelaleddin Pasza, XIX/XX wiek). Przedstawione biografie są egzemplifikacją powikłań tożsamościowych na pograniczu kultur polskiej i tureckiej, chrześcijańskiej i muzułmańskiej, przypadków znanych Polaków z kategorii go-between, o statusie brańców, emigrantów-konwertytów oraz sympatyzujących z Orientem podróżników przebywających w Imperium Osmańskim. Owi kulturowi pośrednicy zaznaczyli swoją obecność na mapie historii kontaktów polsko-tureckich, przechodząc na stałe do historii kultury. Zostali zaprezentowani ze współczesnej kulturoznawczej perspektywy badawczej, czyli z wykorzystaniem istniejących teorii antropologicznych, dotyczących synkretyzmu kulturowego i tożsamości w społeczeństwach wielokulturowych, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem kategorii kulturowej transgresji. Analizując procesy transgresyjne, jakie zaszły w życiu tych jednostek, wzięto pod uwagę konwersję religijną, jej okoliczności, charakter oraz konsekwencje.
This book is devoted to multiculturality and cultural transgression. The study begins with the definitions and descriptions of the phenomena and terminology crucial to the source materials, and presents biculturality from the micro-historical perspective of the case studies of three well-known Polish figures: Wojciech Bobowski (Ali Ufkî Bey, 17th c.), Salomea Regina Pilsztynowa (18th c.) and Konstanty Borzęcki (Mustafa Celâleddin Paşa, 19th/20th c.). Their biographies exemplify the complicated identities at the border of two cultures: Polish and Turkish, Christian and Muslim. The figures in focus are representatives of the “go-between” category which includes captives, émigré converts and Turkophile travellers who prospered in the Ottoman Empire. These “cultural brokers” made their presence felt in the history of Turkish–Polish relations and have passed into the history of culture. They are examined from the perspective of contemporary cultural studies, set against the latest anthropological theories (cultural syncretism, identity in multicultural societies), with special emphasis placed on cultural transgression as a set of shifting interactions. The analysis of the transgressive processes experienced by the individuals being studied takes into account their religious conversion, its circumstances, nature and consequences.
